Wynne Jr. and Virginia Ingram Wynne. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Architecture and moved to Houston in 1962. After becoming a registered architect in 1969, he established his own firm, Robert Wynne Architects. From 1978-1985, he served as associate partner at Langwith, Wilson and King before returning to private practice. Wynne achieved prominence in period and classical architectural design as expressed in distinguished custom homes in River Oaks and Memorial as well as other parts of the country. Known for his exceptional grasp of fine proportion and period detail, his work was featured in local and national magazines, including Period Homes and Houston Lifestyles and Homes. His work can be viewed at www.wynne-architects.com. Wynne was a member of Theta Xi Fraternity, Mensa, The American Institute of Architects and Bering Memorial United Methodist Church. He was grateful for being blessed with many talents, including a beautiful tenor voice, which often prompted others to ask if he was a professional singer. A kind and thoughtful person, he was also a devoted Texas Longhorn football fan as well as an avid bridge player, theater and arts patron, genealogist, talented writer, perfectionist and deeply profound thinker. He is survived by a brother, George Wynne, and wife Louise of El Paso; sister, Cicely Wynne of Houston; nephew, George Wynne Jr., and wife Abby of Houston; niece, Barbara Wynne, of Portland, OR; and aunt, Mary Alice Callahan, of Austin. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, May 18 at Bering Memorial United Methodist Church (1440 Harold, 713-526-1017) in Houston. The family will receive friends at a church reception following the service. The family wishes to thank Laverne Forehand; her daughter, Roia; and Teje Witcher for their special acts of kindness during his illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Mental Health Association of Greater Houston ( www.mhahouston.org/). Personal tributes may be made at: www.webspawner.com/users/vcwvcw/index.html. Obituary also available at www.millerfuneral.com ."
